The yellow-faced whip snake has a dark yellow-edged bar around the front of the nose and a dark comma-shaped streak from the eye to the mouth. Whip snakes are slender with whip-like tails. They are active during the day, very agile and usually escape quickly when disturbed. It can grow to an average length of 80cm. This species can be found throughout Brisbane, in and around gardens so be careful when gardening. Whip snakes are often victims of Cat & Dog attacks

Brown Tree Snake is sometimes known as the 'night tiger', referring to its doll-like yellow eyes and banded body. It is usually brown to reddish-brown with irregular darker cross-bands. Mainly found in eucalypt woodland but also occurs in rainforest. Its nocturnal and generally found in trees. This snake eats mainly small and their eggs, but will also prey upon small mammals, frogs and reptiles. The species is rear-fanged with weak venom. It can grow up to 2m long.

The marsh snake is olive to grey above with a grey to black belly. It has two narrow pale lines on each side of the face running through the upper lip and from the eye onto the neck. This snake preys on frogs and skinks and bears up to 20 live young. This small snake can grow up to 50cm. It is found throughout Brisbane in wet areas including rainforests, wetlands, local suburban creeks. Sometimes mistaken for a small Eastern Brown however not has toxic with its venom

White Crown Snakes are dark grey with a light grey belly and a broad white band across the neck, sweeping forward around the side of the head and across the snout, creating the ‘crown’. Its considered one of the most common snakes in Brisbane, even occurring in the inner city. It inhabits compost heaps and damp areas of gardens. This species grows to an average length of 0.4 metres.

The Golden-crowned Snake is brown to grey above and pink below, with a yellowish crown-shaped marking on the head which gives it its name. The pupils are vertically elliptical.
Golden-crowned Snake lives in deep forest and sandstone areas.
During the day, the Golden-crowned Snake shelters under stones, logs and leaf litter, emerging at night to feed. Size is 50 - 75 cm

Dwarf Crown Snakes are very small with an average size of 25 cm. Body is generally dark steely grey to black with a creamy-yellow belly. Its Crown is narros and approximately 2 - 3 scales wide. Its a secretive, terrestrial snake which hunts small skinks in leaf-litter at night. During the day it hidees amongst moist leaf litter, under rocks and bark. Rarely seen in Brisbane and found more along coastal routes.

Red Naped Snake has a red or orange nape that is usually enclosed by a black head and neck band. In some individuals, the nape is a complete band. The red-naped snake is reddish-brown above, with flanks lighter in colour, most scales bear a dark brown or black diagonal edging. It is common in coastal Queensland and is nocturnal, feeding on skinks. It can grow up to an average length of 0.4m.
