Call triple zero (000) and ask for an ambulance (if calling triple zero does not work on your mobile phone, try calling 112) Say you have a suspected snake bite so their aware of the critical issue at hand
Lay down and keep calm. Breathe and relax body. Snake Venom travels through lymph nodes to heart so lack of movement allows it to stay within limitations of injected area. Movement will enable venom to travel onto heart
Apply a pressure bandage (Snake Bite bandages are sold online & some chemists). Important to ensure its applied correctly. Please find a video below highlighting procedures' application method
If patient is showing signs of cardiac arrest immediately start CPR. Some highly Venomous snakes' toxins will cause heart failure which may occur prior to ambulance arrival. Please see video below for instructions
Snake Bite kits are vital to keep at home and handy during Spring - Autumn seasons in case you or your family have a snake visit. Offices, Schools, Businesses in hot spots should also carry kits in their first aid cabinet
Please do not kill the snake and take with you to hospital for identification. However a photo of the species is very helpful. Polyvalent Venom is available for unidentified snake bites if the species is unknown
